Scavenging Afresh

There is something infinitely healing in the repeated refrains of nature—the assurance that dawn comes after night, and spring after winter. —Rachel Carson

I have conscripted inducted a new partner-in-crime to the Scavenger Hunt: the Hypnotist! I had told him before about it and we kicked around the idea of doing one this past weekend. Our original plan didn’t work out…but a completely unplanned Plan B did!

The Scavenger Hunt and I have had a lot of ups and downs. I participated heavily when W was alive, with he and Ad as my co-conspirators, look-outs, scouts and cameramen. I had even taken over the meme and hosted it on my blog for awhile. But I lost the heart for it when W died, and finally subBee graciously took it over (and gave it a snazzy new look!) Every so often I’d get a wild notion and Ad and I or the Photographer and I would hare about on a codiwomple and get a few, but Viper was never a fan (of that or the blog) so eventually I stopped doing them altogether. Then, when I lost my old blog/domain, losing all of the links to my old Scavenger Hunt posts as well, it seemed that that chapter of my life had drawn to a close.

Until now.

It was K that instigated it. We were waiting for the other hikers to arrive at the trailhead on our recent Sunday hike, and as he got out of the car he said, “‘Conservation Area’ has to be on the Scavenger Hunt list, doesn’t it?”

It isn’t, but “Nature Reserve” is – close enough!

If you go onto the Scavenger Hunt Participants page, you’ll see me listed under Platinum – I had almost achieved Diamond status when I quit before. But those links are all broken. I feel like this is a new beginning, and that I should start over, since no one can access any of those blog posts. So…that’s what I’m doing. Here’s me, starting at the beginning all over again, like sun after rain, morning after night, spring after winter. Let’s see if I can get up to Diamond again!
